Control Types
In order to protect inhabitants from the possible accidents due to old electrical installations or non-conformity, the “Federal Public Service Economy, Middle-classes and Energy” have set up measures to control if the status of electrical installations meet the required standards.
It exist 4 various types of controls of electrical installations imposed by the GRIE (General Rules on Electrical Installations):
| Examination check of conformity before first use, in the event of an important modification or notable increase in the existing electrical installation (GREI art.270) |
Periodic examination check (GREI art.271 and 271bis) |
| Examination check for reinforcement and/or change of electrical meter (GREI art.276) |
Examination check when Selling a housing unit (GREI Article 276bis) |
In the event of a non-conformity report, a second check must be planed:
| At the latest 12 months after the first visit in the case of a periodic visit or check of reinforcement and/or change of electricity meter | At the latest 18 months after the signature of the sale contract |
